The iPhone 15 is a smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc.[1] It is the seventeenth-generation flagship handset in the iPhone line, succeeding the iPhone 14, and was announced alongside the iPhone 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max on September 12, 2023.[2] It was the first non-Pro iPhone to ship with a USB-C connector, replacing the proprietary Lightning port used since 2012.[3]

The iPhone 15 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display at a fixed 60 Hz refresh rate, an Apple A16 Bionic system-on-chip carried over from the iPhone 14 Pro, 6 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB.[1]
Software support
The device shipped with iOS 17 and is expected to receive major iOS updates through 2028, based on Apple's historical five-year support window for non-Pro iPhones.[4] Security updates typically continue for one to two years beyond the last major release.
Repairability
iFixit assigned the iPhone 15 a repairability score of 4 out of 10.[5] Battery and display replacement procedures are documented; back-glass replacement is materially easier than on prior generations due to a revised laminate. Apple's parts pairing requirements continue to limit third-party replacement of biometric components.
